In 2012, I joined Django co-creator Adrian Holovaty to help launch a new way for musicians to learn and remember guitar licks. What began as an interactive interface layered over YouTube evolved into a much harder problem: how do you make music notation editable, playable, and responsive on the web?

I designed two versions of Soundslice from the ground up—defining interaction models, shaping the UI, building the front-end, and developing the visual language. We created a platform used by hundreds of thousands of musicians, teachers, and students around the world.
